Position Summary:
The Department of Criminal Justice & Social Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position for Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice that starts August 2024.
The area of specialization is open.
We are especially interested in candidates with expertise in criminology, forensic investigation, policing, law/legal studies, or any discipline that complements our existing programs.
The starting salary for this position is $55,000 to $60,000, commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will have a demonstrated competency for teaching courses in Criminal Justice.
Courses taught will depend on area of expertise, but could include courses such as: Criminology, Foundations of Policing, Ethnicity, Race, & Crime, Police-Community Relations, Criminal Law, Intro to Crime Scene Investigation, and our senior capstone course.
The typical teaching load is 4 classes/sections per semester (4/4).
What You’ll Need to Succeed: The successful candidate must have one of the following: • Ph.
D.
in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or a related field.
• J.
D.
or equivalent terminal degree from an ABA accredited law school.
• Ed.
D.
in a relevant field.
An ABD (all but dissertation) candidates are accepted, and final candidate will be contractually obligated to have earned their terminal degree by January 1, 2025.
• 1 year of relevant professional experience or teaching experience at the university level.
• Applicants must have evidence of a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education in a liberal arts environment and a willingness to collaborate with both students and faculty.
• Ability to teach criminal justice courses offered by the department (see list).
