Assistant Hardware Store Manager
Customer Service
Promote Customer Service as The #1 Priority through observing, monitoring and coaching associates performance and interactions on the sales floor on a day-to-day basis.
Regularly promote and teach Amaze Every Customer Every Time while leading by example and coaching.
Drive customer satisfaction by ensuring that all customers are acknowledged, customer needs are met, and concerns are resolved quickly.
Use huddles, communication boards, and/or store meetings to communicate tasks, goals and performance, and to educate, engage and motivate the team.
Shared Daily Tasks Uphold the company's Core Values Coordinate the overall supervision of staff and operations with the Store Manager to ensure sales performance goals are met and company procedures are followed accurately and safely.
Enforce safety policies and procedures; be a safety role model.
Review all store evaluations with the leadership team and staff to identify opportunity areas, and correct all issues with a sense of urgency.
Delegate workload among the team to meet merchandising and visual presentation standards.
Utilize available inventory reports to reduce shrinkage, maintain appropriate stock levels and maximize inventory accuracy.
Ensure aisles, seasonal displays, feature displays, vestibule, and exterior premises are all well maintained according to Steve's Ace standards and best practices.
Sales/Development Specific Responsibilities Be proficient in all store technology (i.
e.
, ACENET, Eagle, POS system, Deputy, etc.
) Work with the Store Manager & Training Coordinator to help train and develop associates with goals for growth and success in their positions, provide ongoing performance feedback, and recognize accomplishments.
Assist with store tours, associate introductions, and staying on track with the Training Passport process for new hires.
Notify Training Coordinator & Store Manager to schedule performance reviews upon completion of new hire Training Passport.
Provide input and assist Store Manager as well as Merchandising Manager with implementing merchandising standards within the store.
Review monthly endcap plan, analyze endcap and aisle effectiveness through sales reports, and seek feedback from Store Manager to organize and reorder, as appropriate.
Maintain accurate inventory at all stages of the process through physical inventory counts, daily receiving and transfers, store communications, product mix and flow, and adhering to Steve's Ace Hardware's best practices, metrics and deadlines Other duties as assigned.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) >95% In-Stock >80% Inventory Record Accuracy (IRA) > 10 Annual training hours documented in Ace Learning Place (ALP) 100% participation in continuing education opportunities Training Passports are completed within 30 days Qualifications Amazing customer service skills Strong analytical skills Ability to delegate and be self-directed.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills Ability to motivate, develop, and provide constructive feedback to others Technically skilled in basic retail computer systems including related software Knowledge of email and basic computer programs including MS Word and Excel Possess a valid in-state driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with Steves Ace Hardware, Inc.
's insurance carriers standards Accountability Reports to Store Manager Supervisory Responsibility This position will assist in supervising, coaching, and training 10+ sales associates and cashiers.
Salary: $18-20/hour Work Environment This job operates in a hardware retail environment.
While performing the duties of this job, the associate occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
The associate may work near and occasionally in outside weather conditions.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
This role also requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, two-way radios, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands The employee is required to stand for an extended period of time, walk, reach, lift, and bend to perform job duties.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position that requires some nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must work a minimum of every other weekend.
Must be flexible to work other shifts when necessary.
Travel Limited travel between stores or to training events expected for this position.
Must attend Leadership Meetings monthly.
Required Training and Experience High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Bachelors degree preferred.
Minimum of 1 year leadership experience in a retail setting.
Store Operations Training, Customer Service and Leadership Training will be provided.
